We went solar in 2022. Shortly after, our solar company rep called and told us he learned of a way to get an additional 20+% in tax credits beyond the 30% we knew we were getting. We were immediately skeptical and said no thanks. But when tax time came around, I decided to ask our accountant what he thought, especially because I liked our solar guy and wanted to think he wouldn’t lead us astray even if he was likely getting a referral credit. We have been so happy with our panels and refer business to them, so we figured he wouldn’t want to mess up that relationship. Long story short, our accountant was also skeptical and had not heard of anything like it. But he looked at the website, which was pretty informative, then decided to call them himself to ask more questions. He reported back that it really did seem legit, and he suggested we do it. So we signed up. We did have to front money to them, but it definitely paid off! We got an additional 14k back beyond the 30% tax credit and couldn’t be happier. It also required almost zero effort from us.
